or it could be too new my pc can play any new game on max settings but still it sometimes laggs mostly on ap for some reason.

Ive got a new laptop 1yr ago, dell XPS.
It lags like hell on th3..
My previous laptop (the one which has been stolen in Canada) had lower specs, but no lags at all on th3.

it was 2001 guys, it was era when developers just stopped 3DFx support. plus Renderware engine was raw at its 3.1 version, compare gta3 and gta san andreas... (3.1 vs 3.6) and it was new to Neversoft at the moment, plus gearbox's pc port is kinda bad, we found it doesn't support even things that engine support, one of 'em is bilinear filtering when using TDX.

I think Gearbox screwed something with levels. They didn't use some tree there or something like that. Def said it could be fixed and give some performance boost. The other thing is that newer drivers can cause lagging when displaying particles etc.

i believe gb used same levels, just another face storing method, don't think it's worth optimizing. also thps3 doesnt like standart RW tree. true about particles - can't stay in paris fountain cause everything lags hard then. this also could be bad engine implementation.

same situation was there with venice on 500mhz pc, do you lag in venice? anyway you can extract all textures from tdx, convert 'em to png and put in same folder where oil.bsp is. no lagging will be this way. my th3 starts to lag with 100MB tdx, not 9 Tongue what's your video card memory john? (will you say it once?)

I don't think this is bad engine implementation cause on my old pc it don't lagg at all with all settings on max in any level it's just normal that game made in 2001 and with directx8 isn't compatible with drivers made in 2010-2012 made for directx10-12 or so.

well for some reason all the thps2 objects for goals(apart from secret tape OhmyO) can be found on the starting area with space ollie as i found with cat666
